DMVKids — family events across DC, Maryland and Virginia

No. Tap Continue as guest, choose your county, and everything is available straight away; events you save stay on your device. Signing in with Google or Apple is optional. It keeps your saved events when you switch phones, and lets us send reminders.
Once you're signed in, you can turn on notifications from the account menu (the account button at the top of the screen). You'll get a reminder the day before an event you saved, and a short roundup of the best family events near you before each weekend. To turn them off, use the same menu, or go to Settings → Notifications → DMVKids on your iPhone.
You can type what you're after in plain English — "free indoor things for a 3-year-old this weekend" — and the app works out the ages, dates and kind of event you mean. "Plan my day" goes further and puts together a few events that fit into one day. Both use AI to interpret your words and, like anything automatic, they occasionally get it wrong. Event times, prices and cancellations are always confirmed by the organizer's own page, which every listing links to.
Tap the 📍 pin and allow location, and DMVKids shows events within a radius of where you are, across county lines. It's optional — picking a county works just as well. Your coordinates are rounded to about a kilometre before they leave your phone, aren't stored, and you can turn location off any time in Settings → DMVKids → Location. Distances are approximate, so use your own maps app for directions.
Listings are gathered automatically from public sources — county libraries, parks departments, museums, county fairs and regional tourism boards — so occasionally something is out of date. Every event links back to the organizer's own page, which is always the authority on times, prices and cancellations. If you spot a mistake, email us and we'll correct it.

Washington DC, and counties across Maryland and Virginia including Montgomery, Howard, Prince George's, Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Fairfax, Arlington and Loudoun. Choose a county from the picker at the top of the app to switch.
The first time you use it, iOS asks permission to add events to your calendar. If you declined, open Settings → DMVKids → Calendars and turn it on. DMVKids only ever adds events you confirm, and never reads what is already in your calendar.
Directions use the address published by the event organizer. When an address is written ambiguously, Maps can land on the wrong pin. Email us the event name and we'll fix the listing.
Partly. Events you have saved, and the listings loaded the last time you had a connection, remain available offline. New events need a connection to load.
Not across other apps or websites, and never for advertising — there are no ad networks or third-party analytics in DMVKids. We do keep a basic count of what gets used (events opened, counties chosen, searches typed) on our own server, so we know what families are looking for and what to fix. It's described in full in our Privacy Policy.
If you signed in, open the account menu and tap Delete account. That permanently removes your account, your saved events and your notification settings. If you use DMVKids as a guest, nothing is stored with us; your saved events live only on your device, and removing the app removes them. See our Privacy Policy for detail.
